“Why did you choose to become a doctor?”
I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field but early on I wasn’t sure which field I wanted to be in. During college, I took a course called “Overview of select medical careers.” This is when I fell in love with optometry. I love that I can give people the gift of sight, but also love the flexibility in my career which is important to me as a mommy of two.
“Why have you chosen this field of specialty?”
The eye is so interesting and complex in so many ways. As an optometrist, we are the gate keepers to the overall health of our patients. Many systemic diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, are first found by optometrists during a comprehensive eye exam. I truly love the medical side of optometry and working with other healthcare professionals to promote overall well being of my patients.
“What types of surgeries or treatments do you perform in your clinic?”
My main focus is in ocular disease and myopia management.
“What are the treatment/s that patients usually look for in your practice?”
With the increase in electronic use we common hear dry eye complaints. We have a variety of dry eye treatments including the LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System. Another big part of the practice is our myopia management clinic which offers kids a treatment to stop, or slow down the progression of their vision.
“Besides your medical practice, what other things interest you?”
I enjoy being with my family. I have a 2.5 year old boy and a 4 month old baby girl. We recently moved and I’ve enjoyed being part of our house remodel and interior design.
